Macteo becomes ARCANA ...and nothing changes except the name!
Arcana is the sister company of Macnas – a community arts organisation. Born out of Macnas and established in 1994 Arcana has enjoyed performing for audiences all over Ireland, Europe and the US. Inevitably because of the close relationship between the companies there has been confusion for our clients and audiences over the differences between the sister companies, namely the two diverse areas they work in. This initiative allows both companies to concentrate exclusively in developing their particular areas of expertise. Macnas is a community-focused, not-for-profit arts organisation whilst Arcana undertakes entertainment and production commissions, possibly best known for its work at major events such as the Ryder Cup opening ceremony last year. Speaking at the announcement, Macnas’ General Manager John Ashton said “This is a very positive step for everyone involved. I would hope that this change will clarify any external confusion that has arisen between the perceptions of both companies work. On behalf of everyone in Macnas, I would like to wish Arcana all the best for the future.” Johnny Donnelly, Arcana’s new owner is also excited about the change and added “This move allows Arcana to establish a unique identity in the entertainments sector while continuing to build on its existing business.” We are all really excited about this new initiative and look forward to continuing our working relationship with all our existing and future clients in the entertainment industry.
